Over the weekend....

I am getting really excited about this project.  I built my box this weekend and got it through the first firing.  Currently it is in the 2nd firing process (in the kiln).

Just before being fired first.

Added color using glaze pastels

I put a clear glaze over the entire piece so that I can apply decals next.  I'm really looking forward to the final piece.

in class progress

I was able to take the photo into photoshop and illustrator and make it into vectors.  I think that I want the figures to look similar to street art themselves.  I might add a back ground that I could make into a decal as well.  Maybe of a brick wall or cement blocks.

I'm really excited about this project and being able to incorporate it into my clay work!

Street art: Final Project

For this final piece, I have decided to construct a triangular box from clay.  Each side will be a different "scene" and as the viewer turns to the next side, the narrative will cycle.

I took photos for this piece.  Here are a few.

I have not yet begun to work in Photoshop on this piece, but I have been in the clay studio rolling slabs to construct my box.

FINAL PROJECT: brainstorming

For the final project, I am working to combine some other inspirations that I have had in other classes.  I have really been looking into street art and graffiti this last part of the semester and would like to incorporate it into this project.  I would also like to use my area of study: Ceramics.  I want to create a square tile (or maybe cut into a graffiti shape) and then use decals to put imagery on this piece.

The digital imaging part of the project that I am foreseeing is a time lapse of the cycling of graffiti.  It would start with a person standing in front of a wall (back to the viewer), then in middle someone painting on the wall and then to the far right hand side, there will be someone rolling the wall with white paint.

*These images are not my own and I did not take these photos*

this is a decal on a ceramic piece.  I think my piece will be in high contrast black and white and then use glazes and paint to add color to the piece.

crit movement

I added bark texture to the trunk of the tree shape and made the fingers disappear into the cracked soil.
