Giraffe measuring tape

I have finally found an idea I will be sticking with.  A giraffe measuring tape.  The giraffe body will connect to a piece of the measuring tape and then the head will be at the top.  The scene will be a Saharan region and the giraffe may be reaching into the ruler trees for some food.

I have had trouble finding how to make the eraser bigger and erase a larger area than just a small point. I also had trouble with being able to select and move the object after I had erased part of it.  I had to expand the object and then erase.  Would that have made it so I could not move it around the scene anymore?

I am not as far along as I would have hoped, but getting the hang of this illustrator thing is a little rough when the computer is a challenge already.

New idea: Curling Iron Jelly Fish

I have come up with a new idea for my appliance.  I want to morph a jelly fish and a curling iron together.  The ideas that binds the two unrelated subjects is electricity and the damaging effects of touching either with the body.

Technically I'm still having trouble working my way around illustrator.  The jelly fish was scanned into a file from a drawing I did and then live traced.  The big black smudge is from the paper. I tried to find how to get rid of that or even how to separate the objects (fish and jelly fish), but to no avail. I will be morphing one of the tentacles to the shape of the curling iron.  This will probably be done through drawings at first and then manipulation on the computer.

The curling iron was a high contrast picture that was live trace.

I will be working on this image tonight so I can have a "real" idea of what overall it will look like by tomorrow morning.

Fantasy Appliance: The Beginning

For the fantastic, fantasy appliance, I want to combine a toaster and a bed together.  The toaster will keep its inhabitants warm during winter nights, and when the timer/alarm clock goes off, the toaster will fling its contents (sleeping people) through the air and all the way to their work places.

or

I might combine a toaster and a mixer or whisk to create a space station.  Toast air crafts would be flying throughout the composition, firing lasers to destroy bacon.  The mixer would act as the propeller of the toaster space station.
